Weekly Photo Challenge: Free Spirit
A surprised overseas trip to a Kelong (floating house) in Indonesia in August defined free spirit: late night fishing, sampan travelling, swimming and snorkelling in the glistening sea.
Floating on the sea with no Wi-fi was a bliss. It allowed total immersion with the nature and insane adventures.
Free spirit entailed removal of shackles. Health and safety rules were thrown out to sea. Did we travel with a seat belt on? Did we wear a life jacket on a sampan? Was banana boating a smart idea?
Of course no. Free spirit involved being out of the comfort zone, a far cry from my safety-obsessed lifestyle in the leafy English suburb.
Feel spirit was utterly thrilling.

Wonderful post and perfect for the challenge! Brought back some memories too. I spent 3 weeks in Indonesia in 1991.
Thank you, Cheryl. I love the simplicity of life that I spent in Indonesia. It was a great time for reflection.

Thank you for your kind words.
Very nice post!
Thank you. It was great to experience a very different lifestyle, where what you need in life was very different. It was a minimalist lifestyle that I truly enjoyed.
Beautiful photos Janet!
Thanks. Kelong life was absolutely serene — it was so different that it’s beyond comparison. I would love to go back again.
