Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometrical origami

Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry

I love origami for its geometry.

I recently created 2 projects. My friend gave me a thick book of old music sheets from a charity shop. I used 4 sheets of rectangular papers to form this circle. These papers are very thin, very fragile, and this circle will disintegrate before Christmas.

I also made a 5 pointed star. It’s a modular star made up of 5 units. Origami Instructions is a brilliant website for origami learners. You can get step-by-step instructions there.

You don’t have to be ‘creative’ to be a crafter. Origami is structured, geometrical and logical. It’s my most favourite form of art.

      Hi Tilly,

I put my origami away in boxes. I gave a lot away. I destroyed a lot as well. I can’t possibly keep all the cranes and 3D items I made. It’s hard to send them by post, or I’ll send more. The joy is in the making, not keeping them. I need to think what I should do with them in the future. Any suggestions?

Origami is beautiful. I once watched a girl make bunches and bunches of birds for a mobile. It looked so cool. I have never managed to do it myself though. Maybe I will try again.

I use glue to connect all 4 fans, to form this disc. I don’t tend to use glue with my 3D projects, but with fan and disc, you have to use it.

Another tip for this disc is — for each fan you make, you must secure the middle with a thin wire, or you can even use a thread to sew through it. I use a thin wire from some packaging to secure it. The middle must be secured.
